Excitedly searching through the Halloween holiday decor this year I really hoped to find a fun door mat but after searching and searching I was unable to find what I envisioned.

Then, I saw a video of someone making one themselves and felt inspired! Another fun Halloween crafting project and a chance to keep Poppy’s little toddler hands busy! METHOD BELOW

I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like so I created a stencil which I am sharing here below:

FREE DOORMAT STENCIL

I would recommend printing on card stock to make cleaner lines while when painting.

Click the picture for link to the the door mat I used. It’s only 5$!

The only other thing you need is some paint. Any would do really. I used acrylic and outdoor paint - mostly because my husband was painting the veranda while we were doing this so I just grabbed his paintbrush for a second! 😆

So anyways, all you need is:

  • Doormat

  • Paint

  • Free Boo stencil

  • Brushes or sponges

Making this craft less than 10 dollars!!!

Method:

  1. Cut out stencil - in my video on Instagram I cut the ghost outline out quite thin, this was because I couldn't decide if I wanted to just do an outline of a ghost or it filled in. So the option is there anyways! 😊

  2. Pin the stencil to the doormat

  3. Paint using brushes or sponges. You do need to be quite generous with the paint and quite a bit of dabbing.

  4. Leave to dry slightly but not fully before removing the stencil. If you leave it to dry too much then the stencil may stick to the mat.

  5. Add eyes to your ghost!

Happy crafting!! 👻
